Description:Municipal and Private Open Space Property contains parcels owned by municipalities, land trusts and other private entities throughout the state. Generally, these parcels are open space and include schools, cemeteries, recreation, conservation and preservation land. This layer can be used with the Federal Property and DEP Property layers for a more comprehensive understanding of open space and recreation land throughout the State of Connecticut.
This layer has not been updated since 1997 and may not be accurate. For more accurate and current open space parcel data, please see the Protected Open Space and the Protected Open Space Phase 1 feature classes. However, please note that the definition of Protected Open Space is not the same. As a result, cemeteries, developed recreation facilities, and schools are not included in the more current Protected Open Space layers.
